Two movies that really need to be seen ....

Boy Wonder is a dark tale that works so well.  I found it as I do with a lot of movies as an iTunes cheapo deal, 99c.  Sometimes they don't work for me - this one was different.

A dark tale it is with twists here and there that are thought provoking, charming (the only word I can think of) in the way it is crafted and simple in the way it is delivered without glitz or over dramatisation. Liked it a lot.  Not one if you are feeling down :) Recommended.

Flame & Citron is an amazingly watchable movie that I guess tells it like it was - the story of two resistance fighters in downtown Copenhagen.  Another cheapo on iTunes.

Yes, it is set in war time, Denmark in fact (there was a clue in the city being Copenhagen), and it is in Danish with English subtitles. The latter two facts may put you off - don't let it. Intrigue abounds.  Gripping?  Hm, no. Watchable? Hm Yes. Definitely recommended.

San Remo to me ... Sanremo to others!

The town of Sanremo is nice to visit, lots of shopping.  Old town wise it is sombre, very like Ventimiglia.  Down at heel. Sad is the right word .....

Zero Dark 30

A late Sunday evening at le Mercury in Place Garibaldi.  Quite a few people who spent quite some time selecting the 'siege parfait' to watch the movies - an interesting comedy in itself!  Shall I talk about Zero Dark 30, why not!  As a movie it had pace, keeps your interest for sure and I believe tries to tell it like it happened.  So, as a movie, it was simply brilliant - yes, brilliant.

Here is the but.  But, I guess it must be me, I am heartily sick of the earnest Clarice types.  There is nothing engaging about them, they are relentless for sure and they are uncompromising - is it because they can get away with it or is everyone else so weak?  Set this against the macho gung-ho special forces types who came across to me as rather YMCA then my perspective on the whole changed.  It became a rather frightening real life game with other people's lives in a shadowy world of  bizarre relationships.
