Encore au cinema .....

This was a slow movie in many ways.  Strange too.  However, it kept me watching to see what would happen.  It was another movie in English sous titre en Francais.  Before there is a howl of derision - fact is that it is good to see what the translation from English to actual French is like ..... it isn't what you think or for that matter taught, rather definitely not prof approuve.

Do I recommend this movie?  If you have a spare couple of hours as I did.

We know they mean antique dealers don't we?  On the other hand we could recoil in horror shouting "Ce une insulte enorme" or merely tut at the scant regard for English!  On the third hand,  as technically I have used two already, we could hope that the French are not a stuffy reserved lot and that Antic Dealers do exist!!

I intended to post a picture of the art works at the Nice Museum of Modern Art vernissage on Friday.  No photo says it all ........... this map is way way better.

Local music ... from Hungary!

Had a really great night on Friday listening to Laura Riz, a wonderful versatile singer, and Zolt Boltos, a most accomplished guitarist with roots in gypsy, jazz & classical genres.  And, yes, the music was good.  The Jazz & Comedie Club of Nice is great too nicely styled with a very pleasant ambiance - liked it.  Will certainly go back BUT this time I will take my camera which had a night off - stupid I know - that is why you have some pretty poor images!

Pas d'excuses, il fait froid!!

What a brilliant, captivating and ingenious movie.  Even more amazing it is Froglandian, oui ... admittedly with the help of some Hollywood notables.  Devised and executed with skill.   Bet it wasn't an easy decision to make it.

.... The big news is I managed all the dialogue. Oh you know?  Ok, it is a silent movie with the words flashed up very occasionally on the old style black card with white writing so I guess we are talking around 100 basic words. Schmaltzy? Ben sur, but hey it was cold out there for Nice at any rate .... Go see!

A little bit of paint .....

A few weeks ago this was a so so building in a very mediocre part of town. It was grey/off white. Now look at it! Wonder how they got away with it? It could be that it is a traditional Nicoise color?? Whatever the reason it looks very tasty indeed bringing out the superb work of its builders. Tres efficace!

The shop underneath is called the Trash Zone, you can make up your own mind about that ..... well I did say it was a mediocre part of town.
